Week 10
In week 10 there were four games: High Voltage vs. Truckers, Witty Waffles vs. Mavericks, Holy Ballers vs. Butter, Witty Waffles vs. High Voltage.
The following results were:
1. High Voltage beat Fr. Enriquez’s Truckers 43—39.
2. Witty Waffles defeated the Mavericks 44—35.
3. Butter snatched a victory away from the Holy Ballers 22—20.
4. High Voltage ended the night beating the Witty Waffles 33—31.
Here are some Highlights and lowlights from the four games (Not a lot)
Highlights:
1. Fr. Boyle’s had a full court shot buzzer beater in game 4 at the Half-time.
2. Mr. Tucker also shot a half court in game 2.
3. Fr. Enriquez had 27 pts in game 1.
4. Fr. Boyle had a triple double in game 2.
5. Mr. Mader, Br. Timothy and Sean Kraengle all had double doubles.
6. Declan Roberts, who played that night for the Mavericks, outperformed some of the high school with 10 pts and 50% overall for the night.
7. High Voltage won their first double header.
Lowlights:
1. In game 2 there was a stat booking error. The scoreboard was correct according to the footage available.
2. Gus Burns unearned 2 pts for scoring on his own hoop.
3. Game 3 was very slow due to very poor offense.
4. Game 4 was the first game to go into overtime.
5. Alex was injured again after Fr. Boyle prayed for no injuries. (Come on Alex, get with the program!)

P.S. Father Boyle confirmed that next year we will have a basketball program.
Playoffs & Championship
Game 1 (3/7/26):
In the first game of the Playoff Season, High Voltage, already optimistic after their first victory over the Truckers, faced their familiar opponents once again. The Truckers, however, were determined that this rematch would have a very different ending.
Unfortunately, the crowd was not exactly overwhelming. Only seven spectators showed up: three to keep the stats, two to officiate the game, and two—Enmanuel Aponte and Marcel Roberts—to guard the bleachers. Mr. Tom Rowe, meanwhile, was caught on a hot mic criticizing someone almost immediately. A promising start to the playoffs!
High Voltage came out strong, taking the lead right off the jump. Gerard Roberts tipped the ball perfectly to Tim Burns, who put the first basket of the game on the board. The Truckers quickly answered, but High Voltage stayed right with them, keeping the score close.
Eventually, the Truckers began to pull away. Joe Ermold caught fire, knocking down two three-pointers, a foul shot, and a layup, helping the Truckers establish a nine-point lead. High Voltage slowly began to climb back, but the Truckers held on to finish the first half ahead 24–18.
The second half began with High Voltage once again trying to close the gap. Unfortunately for the Voltage boys, the Truckers had other plans. The Truckers knocked down nine more three-pointers, taking command of the game, with Luke Schelstrate providing much of the scoring.
High Voltage made several attempts to generate some offense, but their efforts ultimately came to nothing. In the end, they blew a circuit and could not get back within striking distance.
The final score was 61–40, sending the Truckers into the next round after a very successful night. Fr. Enriquez recorded a double-double, while Luke Schelstrate and Joe Ermold both finished with double-digit scoring performances.
For High Voltage, Iker and Tim Burns also reached double figures, with Tim Burns recording the best shooting percentage of the night at an impressive 75%.
The Truckers are moving on, while High Voltage's playoff run has officially been unplugged.
Game 2 (3/10/26):
Going into the night, Witty Waffles came off a loss to High Voltage and entered the game with the worst overall record in the league. They were, without a doubt, the "underdogs." Butter, meanwhile, came into the game riding high after defeating Holy Ballers, the team with the best record in the league, and were feeling confident about their chances. Fortunately, the night also brought a much better turnout, with plenty of participation and support from those in attendance.
The game started slowly, with the first points not coming until several minutes into the first half when Butter scored off a shooting foul. The Waffles quickly answered, with Cristobal knocking down a shot to give Witty Waffles the lead. After that, however, the offense stalled once again, with Fr. Boyle ending the drought twice.
Butter eventually pulled ahead, taking advantage of a couple of sly steals and converting their opportunities. But Witty Waffles refused to go away. Sean Kraengel knocked down a three-pointer to bring the Waffles back, only for John Rowe to answer with a three of his own for Butter.
The Waffles responded yet again, with Kraengel and Mr. Loroña providing the offense and slowly building the lead. By the end of the first half, Witty Waffles had taken a 15–12 advantage.
Coming out of halftime, Mr. Loroña was the first to score for the Waffles. Butter slowly began to claw its way back into the game behind John Rowe and Mr. Mader. From there, the game became a defensive battle, with both sides trading baskets but neither able to gain a significant advantage.
Eventually, Loroña knocked down a two-pointer to tie the game. Neither team could break the deadlock before the end of regulation, sending the game into overtime tied 24–24.
Butter struck first in overtime when Mr. Mader hit a jump shot to break the tie. Fr. Boyle immediately answered with a two-pointer of his own. Butter responded with a layup from John Rowe, but Loroña and Fr. Boyle answered again for the Waffles.
The game then turned into a back-and-forth battle between Mr. Mader and Sean Kraengel, with neither side willing to give an inch. Finally, Kraengel delivered the decisive blow, putting the nail in the coffin and giving Witty Waffles a stunning 33–31 upset victory.
The underdogs had done it.
Sean Kraengel led the Waffles with a double-double: 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mr. Loroña had his best night of the season, shooting 42%. For Butter, Mr. Mader also recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
What began as a matchup between the league's worst-recorded team and one of its hottest teams ended with the Witty Waffles pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the season.
Game 3 (3/18/26):
Going into the evening, the Witty Waffles, fresh off their victory over Butter, were feeling confident heading into their matchup with the Holy Ballers. The Ballers, meanwhile, were hoping to put the Waffles in their place and prove why they were considered the number one team in the league.
From the opening tip, Witty Waffles struck first, with Mr. Loroña putting in an easy first basket. Holy Ballers quickly answered with a three-pointer from Doug Rowe, but the Waffles responded through Sean Kraengel, pulling themselves back in front.
From there, however, the game turned into a defensive war.
Both teams went into lockdown mode, producing very little offense. It was pure defense, with both sides eager to prove their dominance and fiercely protecting their respective hoops. Eventually, Witty Waffles managed to break through the Ballers' defense, forcing Holy Ballers to call a timeout.
Following the timeout, the Ballers finally managed to penetrate the Waffles' defense, but Witty Waffles held onto their lead as the first half came to an end, 9–8.
The second half began much like the first—with very little offense. Both teams seemed increasingly frustrated as neither could consistently penetrate the paint. Holy Ballers finally made the first major move when Doug Rowe knocked down another three-pointer, putting the Ballers ahead.
The teams then traded baskets, keeping the game within striking distance for both sides.
Then, with less than three minutes remaining, Witty Waffles suddenly found their offense. The Waffles went on an eight-point scoring streak, with Fr. Boyle and Max Burns helping propel the team ahead.
Holy Ballers could not recover.
When the final buzzer sounded, Witty Waffles had defeated Holy Ballers 22–17, pulling off yet another upset and punching their ticket to the Championship Game.
For Witty Waffles, Fr. Boyle recorded another double-double, while the team as a whole finished with an impressive 30 rebounds and 6 steals.
Holy Ballers, playing without Fr. Webber, turned to Doug Rowe, who delivered a strong performance with three three-pointers. The Ballers also had an excellent defensive night, recording 4 blocks, 5 steals, and 24 rebounds.
But in the end, the Waffles once again proved that they should not be counted out.
Two upsets. One championship game. The Witty Waffles are going to the Finals.
Game 4 (3/27/26):
The Truckers, fresh off their playoff victory over High Voltage, faced the Mavericks, the number-two team in the league, with a spot in the Championship Game on the line.
The Mavericks won the opening tip, but they failed to draw first blood. That honor went to Luke Schelstrate of the Truckers, who put the first points on the board. What followed was several minutes of scoreless basketball before the Mavericks finally broke the silence.
From there, both teams began making their runs. Fr. Enriquez and Joe Ermold led the charge for the Truckers, while Matt Mohan and Aidan Butler answered for the Mavericks. In between the scoring bursts were several stretches of defensive battles and stalled offense.
Eventually, the Mavericks managed to take the lead heading into halftime, 23–22.
At the break, Fr. Enriquez already had 12 points, while Aidan Butler and Matt Mohan had contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively. Things were looking good for the number-two-seeded Mavericks, who appeared poised to pull off the victory and advance to the championship.
But the Truckers were not finished.
The second half began with both teams trading baskets, keeping the game close. Then Fr. Enriquez caught fire, going on an incredible 15-point scoring streak that propelled the Truckers into the lead.
Butler and Mohan attempted to stop the bleeding and keep the Mavericks within striking distance. As the clock wound down, the game became increasingly contentious, with both teams fighting for every possession.
In the end, however, the Truckers managed to carve out a 47–43 victory, eliminating the number two Mavericks and securing their place in the Championship Game.
Notable Highlights
And now, the Truckers are headed to the Finals.
Championship Game (3/31/26):
The Championship Game was held during 7th period, with the entire school turning out to watch the final showdown. Both teams kept mostly to themselves before the game, but there was no question that each was determined to walk away with the title.
The Truckers won the tip-off and quickly took an early lead, with Luke Schelstrate and Joe Ermold putting points on the board. The Witty Waffles fought their way back, refusing to let the Truckers get too far ahead.
Eventually, the Waffles took the lead, thanks largely to Sean Kraengel, who knocked down a three-pointer, three free throws, and several layups. The Truckers fought to keep the game within reach, with Fr. Enriquez and Xavier Forget providing the offense.
When the dust settled at halftime, Witty Waffles held a 22–17 lead. Things appeared to be going the Waffles' way, especially with Kraengel having already scored 16 points.
But the Truckers had plenty of fuel left in the tank.
The second half began slowly, but then the Truckers found another gear. Fr. Enriquez and Joe Ermold shifted into high gear and eventually took the lead away from the Waffles.
Witty Waffles rolled up their sleeves and fought to bring the game back within reach. But with only several minutes remaining, Fr. Enriquez, with some assistance from his teammates, apparently decided that the basket was open season, pouring in more points and extending the Truckers' advantage.
The Waffles tried to plug the proverbial firehose, but with little success.
When the final buzzer sounded, the Truckers were victorious, 45–38, making them the Champions of the Intramural Basketball League!
Championship Highlights
1. Despite the loss, Fr. Boyle once again recorded a double-double with 10 points and 18 rebounds.
2. Sean Kraengel had an excellent game with 22 points, shooting 50% from the free-throw line.
3. Mr. Loroña also had a strong night, shooting 50% overall.
4. The Waffles put together a solid defensive performance with 31 rebounds and 2 blocks.
5.The Truckers finished with 27 rebounds, 8 steals, and 9 assists.
6. Fr. Enriquez led the Truckers with 25 points, shooting an impressive 55% overall.
7. Joe Ermold contributed 12 points.
8. Xavier Forget finished with 4 points and shot 100% from the free-throw line.
After a season filled with upsets, comebacks, injuries, questionable popcorn management, and plenty of basketball chaos, it all came down to one final game.
The Witty Waffles fought hard.
The Truckers shifted into high gear.
And in the end, the Truckers took home the championship.
